Pace's Point VFD is seeking to add a Quint Truck to its fleet
We're surrounded by 3 to 5 story condominiums. There is only one ladder truck in the county and it belongs to a municipality that does not participate in mutual/automatic aid. Our fire district is defined as rural and contains 24 square miles, however, we serve a lakefront area that is primarily a resort/second home/retirement community which is growing rapidly. Last year we provided automatic aid to fight a 3 story condominium building fire. Pictures are below:
The structure was a complete loss but if we had had a quint/aerial truck, the fire could have been extinguished much sooner and some of the building might have been saved. In addition, our firefighters would have been exposed to less risk with a quint/aerial truck.
We would like to purchase a used quint/aerial ladder truck. These condo units are our AUTOMATIC AID district next door:
If you look close in the 6th and 7th pictures, you can see where the condo destroyed by fire above was located. The ground has now been cleared.
Our Department has budgeted $12,000 annually for the past 5 years toward the purchase of this new equipment.
YOUR help is appreciated!
